Locally Sourced: The Green Shed and Coffee

The photo today is of our Wood Fired pizzas at one of our Wallaby Ridge Wood Fired Pizza nights and really doesnt relate to what I'm writing about except that my pizzas will be 100 mile friendly soon and will taste even better with local produce being used to make them!
After our Scenic Rim Escapes tourism meeting this morning I went to Tamborine Mountain for some errands including to buy some great local organic Arabica coffee and have a bite to eat at the Tamborine Mtn Coffee Plantation and Cafe. Great Cafe! A great cafe is always full of locals - and it always is!
After my lunch and cappacino, I dropped in to see Jeff and Bev Buckley - the couple behind "The Green Shed" on Tamborine Mountain. Jeff is a passionate organic farmer who runs courses on growing your own organic produce.

I invited Geoff along to our Scenic Rim Escapes tourism meeting in April this year to connect him with other operators who had not met him before. I had heard about The Green Shed but was totally unaware of Geoff and Bev's total commitment and the 140 members of the Tamborine Mountain Growers Association. Wow a whole new world of 100 mile produce suddenly opened up!

I bought his book "Growing Healthy" and got to know Geoff a bit more and his philosophy on growing your own healthy produce. I am looking forward to a good read!

What an inspiration. Go have a look at his site: http://www.healthyorganicnow.com/
...this evening I told John about my little adventure and he says he would love to be a farmer... amazing - when you think you know them, they drop a little gem like that :)
